I have to confess I actually googled the history of chocolate chip cookes as I wanted to know how they came about. According to wikipedia:

A chocolate chip cookie is a drop cookie that originated in the United States and features chocolate chips (small morsels of sweetened chocolate) as its distinguishing ingredient. Circa 1938, Ruth Graves Wakefield added chopped up bits from a Nestlé semi-sweet chocolate bar into a cookie.

The traditional recipe combines a dough composed of butter and both brown and white sugar, semi-sweet chocolate chips and vanilla. Variations include recipes with other types of chocolate as well as additional ingredients such as nuts or oatmeal.

Interesting stuff. I felt good after reading that as my recipe has both brown and white sugar, and heaps of chocolate chips so pretty spot on I would say!

These cookies are one of those easy go to recipes I hope you will add to your favourites.

I'd love to hear yor favourite cookie recipes, everyone has one. #datewithmykitchen.
