A fun easy gift jar anyone can make. The biscuits are so simple to make you can make this as a gift for your kids to bake.

I loved this one so much I made myself one for Christmas. That way I can easily whip up a batch for the kids.

You can substitute the M&M's with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, even dried fruit. This recipe is going to become my new favourite as it's so easy to dump the jar contents into the stand mixer, and add the wet on top, mixing until just combined and wa-la! Biscuit dough that is way more addictive than it should be. This recipe is not one of mine, it is from Celebrating Sweets so all credit goes to them for the deliciousness.

I've said this recipe makes 12 biscuits, that would be 12 large biscuits. You can adjust the sizes to suit you (or the size of your cookie jar) just keep an eye on how brown they get after 7 minutes of baking.

Method

1.

To make the jar: Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Pour into the bottom of a 900ml jar.

Top the flour mixture with M&M's, dropping them in lightly, so that they don't sink.

Top the M&M's with brown sugar, and then granulated sugar (use a spoon to carefully scoop the sugars into the jar).

Seal with the lid and decorate.

2.

To make the biscuits you will need:

1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted and cooled

1 beaten egg

and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

Pour the contents of the jar into a large bowl and stir to combine.

Add butter, egg, and vanilla to bowl and stir until just combined. Cover in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

3.

Once chilled, roll golf ball sized portions of dough and place the dough balls onto lined baking sheets. Bake at 200°C/ 180°C fan-forced for 8-10 minutes, until the centers of the cookies are just barely set

4.

Leave to cool on tray for 5 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool completely.
